Sept. 20, 2013

As much as we love showing horror classics like The Shining, They Live, Sleepaway Camp, Friday the 13th, and Spider Baby who have all had their share of theatrical runs; it's also nice to share independent horror films that are eagerly wanting to be discovered. At the Strand Theatre, we love giving independent film makers the opportunity to show off their movies on the big screen!

For September, we've decided to theme our Friday Night Frights after horror films made by Indiana film makers that feature an Indiana cast. We've selected two gems among the indie circuit that were made a couple years ago that are still turning heads today. Both of these films have made their way across the U.S. and overseas to various film festivals, conventions, and theatres...but have never been shown here in Shelbyville.
"Found." by Scott Schirmer
Marty is the ideal fifth grader. He gets good grades, listens to his teachers, and doesn’t start trouble in class. But darkness is beginning to fall over Marty’s life. The kids at school won’t stop picking on him, his parents just don’t seem to understand him, and now Marty must grapple with a terrible secret that threatens to destroy life as he knows it – his big brother is a serial killer! Brotherly love is put to the ultimate test in this emotional coming-of-age story that descends into full-blown horror.

"BEVERLY LANE" by Joshua Hull
Beverly Lane follows a local metal company as they celebrate the retirement of their longtime boss with a "Coney Island" themed party. Bored & angry, the workers find themselves stuck with clowns, a magician, a mime, and one very sick barbershop singer. Then all hell breaks loose...literally! Stuck between zombies and a sideshow, the workers must learn to survive with each other or die trying.

This event is a double-feature. Admission to see both films is only $5.

Stay tuned for special guest announcements and more.

We expect some of the cast and crew to make appearances at this event!
